REVIEW: The Fill-in Boyfriend By Kasie West

REVIEW: The Fill-in Boyfriend By Kasie West

Series: (Stand Alone)
Published By: HarperTeen
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult, Romance
Pages: 352 pages

Synopsis (from Goodreads)

When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

MY THOUGHTS

I'm a major fan of Kasie West's writing. She does an amazing job of pulling the reader into her books and making it a nice read. I loved Distance Between Us, and On The Fence! I am definitely looking forward to her new book coming out in a couple months, P.S. I Like You.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters, the plot, and the cute relationships between the characters is just mind blowing and amazing. The book was very light hearted and refreshing. It feels like it's been a while since I have read a book like this and I enjoyed every minute of it. Absolutely love Hayden and Bec. I feel like I can relate a lot to Bec in some ways and she is just hilarious. I love the relationship that Bec and Gia create. Also did I mention that I love Hayden!

The story is about a Senior in high school, Gia, who was going to use prom was her chance to prove to friends that she hasn't been lying about her relationship with her college boyfriend. Her plan horribly fails when her boyfriend decides to dump her in the school parking lot... a couple hours before Prom (which she kind of had coming to her). She decides she has two options: either go in alone, or find an replacement and say he is her boyfriend. She goes with the not the best idea ever option. She finds Hayden, a guy who he was just dropping off his sister for prom, and proposes a deal that if he pretends to be her ex, she will owe him. Throughout the story you will see their relationship grow, some hilarious moments, most extremely cute moments that makes you want to hide your face into a pillow and squeal, see Gia go through some tough obstacles, see her grow into a better person, and so much more.

There were some characters however that I didn't like one bit. I did not really like her family.  Bradely, her ex, sucked. What type of person freaking dumps a girl before prom? SMH. The one  I liked the least was Jules. She was a total you know what. She wasn't just that she was also a HUGE bully. She was out to get rid of Gia and end the relationship between Gia and her other two friends. There were just many instances that she was just a terrible person.

But overall this was a good book! If your looking for a nice and refreshing read you should definitely check this one out!
