Synopsis from Goodreads:
Every story needs a hero.
Every story needs a villain.
Every story needs a secret.

Wink is the odd, mysterious neighbor girl, wild red hair and freckles. Poppy is the blond bully and the beautiful, manipulative high school queen bee. Midnight is the sweet, uncertain boy caught between them. Wink. Poppy. Midnight. Two girls. One boy. Three voices that burst onto the page in short, sharp, bewitching chapters, and spiral swiftly and inexorably toward something terrible or tricky or tremendous.

What really happened?
Someone knows.
Someone is lying.

Every story needs a hero. Every story needs a villain. Every story needs a secret.

This story follows three characters, Wink, Poppy, and Midnight.  In this book, not everything is as it seems and it's keeps you guessing a bit on who is not who they say they are and whose lying. It seems that people have pretty mixed feelings towards this book. I have seen people who either really love it or people who really dislike it. It seems like there is no in between. When I first started it I didn't understand why anybody would dislike it, it was gold! But, then I got mid-way through the book and I was like, "Oh, that's why." The beginning was going good, I loved it! Halfway it took a sharp, weird turn, that I didn't really like, and the characters turned out not to be as they portray themselves (which I knew that was going to happen but I didn't expect in the way it happened). This is the point that really just began to lose my interest and got me confused about a certain characters change in character. But, by the time that everything unfolded in the end and explained why certain things happened; I realized that it was pretty freaking awesome!

In the beginning, one character really stood out to me, and that was Wink.  I was seriously admiring Wink. I loved the way she didn't let other people and their hateful words towards her affect her in any way. She just shrugged it off like it was nothing. She was pretty freaking awesome! ;D Here is one quote from her that I loved,

"'So everyone saw my unicorn underwear, Midnight. So what. Repeat after me. So everyone saw Wink's unicorn underwear who cares.' ...
'In a hundred years, who will care about my unicorn underwear? Who cares right now? There are bigger things to think about.'
'Bigger things like what?
'Battles and wars. Lost causes and lost loved. Unsolved mysteries and magical ring and Here Be Dragons. Fairy Paths..." ~Wink Poppy Midnight page 62

Even though, things happened in this book that I wasn't the biggest fan of, overall, this book was amazing. It felt realistic, the characters, the plot, everything. The author portrayed everything amazingly! I am definitely looking forward to reading more of her books in the future! ;D

REVIEW: Everything Everything By Nicola Yoon

REVIEW: Everything Everything By Nicola Yoon

18692431Series: (Stand Alone)
Published By: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, and Romance
Format: E-book
RATING: 2 Stars
Pages: 320 pages

SYNOPSIS (from Goodreads)
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

I did not really enjoy this book. It went a little to fast and it seemed as certain aspects of the story were just thrown in there for the heck of it. It also had insta-love. The romance and the I love you's happened way too fast. Also, I wish that we got to see more in depth of some of the characters like, Oliver's family. Madeline annoyed me. Some of the choices made by her and the other characters utterly surprised me. There were instances were Madeleine decided to go a path that meant possible ultimate death, and the people around her basically cleared a path for her to do it. It just bothered me.

Some good aspects of this book would be the beginning and the plot twist. Definitely was shocked about how the story ended playing out. Something I was definitely not expecting. I loved the beginning sooooo much!! It was cute, adorable, and it really drew me in. It was just near the middle and the ending that drew me away.

Even thought I didn't particularly enjoyed this one, I still recommend that you read this one. I know a lot of people who really loved this read. I say give it a try! I ended up giving this book 2 stars.

Have you read this? Your thoughts? What did you think of Madeline's decisions?

Haven't read this? What are you looking forward to in this book?

REVIEW: Me Before You By Jojo Moyes

REVIEW: Me Before You By JoJo Moyes

Series: Me Before You Series
Published By: Pamela Dorman Books/Viking
Genres: Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Format: E-Book
Pages:  369 pages
Synopsis (from Goodreads
Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows
they're going to change the other for all time.

“You only get one life. It's actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.” - Jojo Moyes
Literally me right now.

I honestly don't even know what to do with myself right now. I'm just in a terrible and an emotional mess right now. The tears are still rolling down my cheeks. I honestly, would of never picked up this book if it weren't for the upcoming movie coming out. I actually quite enjoyed the beginning of it and that ending though!!! Although, I found myself bored often throughout the book. I love the moments between Lou and Will. I didn't really have much interest for the other stuff. I feel like there weren't actually weren't that many moments where there was just Lou and Will. I wanted more!!! Also, Lou's boyfriend really irked me. Like, just go already. Let Will and Lou be together!! ;P

This is a book about a man, Will, whose life, one morning, turns completely upside down. I can't remember all the information about it but, after a car accident, he now has to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He can't be left alone for a long period of time, and needs 24/7 care. When all hope is lost of a recovery, so does his desire of living. That's where Lou plays into the story. After the place she works at shuts down, she needs to hurry to find a job to help provide for her family. A job comes in for in need of a carer. She gets the job, and meets Will Traynor. He is rude, sad, and depressed. She has six months to pretty much give him a reason to live. To see what's out there and to show him that he can have a happy life and to not let the chair he is confined in, define who he is and how he should live.

I would probably give this book like 3.5 stars. The writing style of Jojo Moyes didn't really cut it out for me. I was kind of bored through some of the book but, there was many moments that I was captivated by it. I definitely recommend that you read this book! Even though there were some boring parts, it was a REALLY good read that will make you sob like crazy. All I can say is that I can't wait to see the movie!

Check out the trailer for the movie!! ;D

REVIEW: My Heart and Other Black Holes By Jasmine Warga

REVIEW: My Heart and Other Black Holes By Jasmine Warga

18336965
Series: (stand alone)
Published By: Harper Collins/ Balzer + Bray
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Mental Health, Contemporary
Format: E-Book
Pages: 302 pages
Synopsis (from Goodreads)
Sixteen-year-old physics nerd Aysel is obsessed with plotting her own death. With a mother who can barely look at her without wincing, classmates who whisper behind her back, and a father whose violent crime rocked her small town, Aysel is ready to turn her potential energy into nothingness.

There’s only one problem: she’s not sure she has the courage to do it alone. But once she discovers a website with a section called Suicide Partners, Aysel’s convinced she’s found her solution: a teen boy with the username FrozenRobot (aka Roman) who’s haunted by a family tragedy is looking for a partner.

Even though Aysel and Roman have nothing in common, they slowly start to fill in each other’s broken lives. But as their suicide pact becomes more concrete, Aysel begins to question whether she really wants to go through with it. Ultimately, she must choose between wanting to die or trying to convince Roman to live so they can discover the potential of their energy together. Except that Roman may not be so easy to convince.

Sorry in advance for the short review.

When I first saw this book, I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to read this. I typically don't like reading these type of books because when I read them I can't help think of my past. It just brings memories that I rather not bring back up. I heard vaguely about what it was about but, after reading that synopsis I was knew it would be nagging at me at the back of my mind to read it. I could relate a lot to the main character, Aysel. Not the my dad is a murderer thing but, how she feels. I have felt that "black slug" that she refers to the book and just found myself relating a lot with her.

This book follows a girl, Aysel, who is struggling with depression and wants to die. However, she doesn't want to do it alone. If she does eventually decide to do it, she doesn't know if she will be able to go through with it alone. She finds a website called Suicide Partners. Suicide Partners is a website where you partner up with somebody and commit suicide together. She finds a guy, Roman,  who lives nearby and teams up with him. They plan their suicide together, spend time together as their time dwindles down, etc. As they spend more time together, they slowly become happier. Aysel begins to question whether or not she should do it. However, Roman, is set on dying.  Will she and Roman go through with it? Or will they finally find happiness, in each other?

I'm having a hard time expressing my feelings on this book. I liked it. I like the way it kind of shows hope even in the worst circumstances (if that makes sense). I love the interaction between Aysel and Roman. I love the little happy moments they spent together. Even though I liked the moments they spent together, didn't the romance seem kind of forced? It just happened so sudden.
That's pretty much all I have for this book. What are your thoughts? What did you think of that relationship? Are you thinking about picking up this book?

REVIEW: Everything Leads to You By Nina LaCour

REVIEW: Everything Leads to You By Nina LaCour

Series: (Stand Alone)
Published By: Dutton Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Mystery, and LGBT
Format: E-book
Pages: 272 pages
SYNOPSIS (from Goodreads)
A love letter to the craft and romance of film and fate in front of—and behind—the camera from the award-winning author of Hold Still.

A wunderkind young set designer, Emi has already started to find her way in the competitive Hollywood film world.

Emi is a film buff and a true romantic, but her real-life relationships are a mess. She has desperately gone back to the same girl too many times to mention. But then a mysterious letter from a silver screen legend leads Emi to Ava. Ava is unlike anyone Emi has ever met. She has a tumultuous, not-so-glamorous past, and lives an unconventional life. She’s enigmatic…. She’s beautiful. And she is about to expand Emi’s understanding of family, acceptance, and true romance.

This review is going to be pretty short, so sorry in advance!!!
This was a really nice read! I LOVE contemporary! After finishing a contemporary, I always feel happy. They are always so refreshing!

This book was pretty short, and it kind of left me wanting more. I wanted more of just pretty much everything. I wanted more of what happened after, more Ava and Emi, possibly more Charlotte and Toby, more of the background setting up stuff, more Tamal, etc. In the beginning I was a little bored of all the movie set up talk but, soon it grew on me. I was really intrigued by it, and now I want to know a little more about it. ;) The next time I watch a TV Show or movie, I will probably find myself paying more attention to the background, setting, and how things are arranged.

The book was, however,  kind of predictable. Which I, honestly, in most cases I hate. In this book, I didn't really mind. As I said it was a nice, short read and overall I'm really happy about this book. ;)

What are your thoughts on this book? What were your feelings toward all of the movie background talk? Do you also wish that there was a little bit more about what happened?

REVIEW: The Fill-in Boyfriend By Kasie West

REVIEW: The Fill-in Boyfriend By Kasie West

Series: (Stand Alone)
Published By: HarperTeen
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult, Romance
Pages: 352 pages

Synopsis (from Goodreads)

When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

MY THOUGHTS

I'm a major fan of Kasie West's writing. She does an amazing job of pulling the reader into her books and making it a nice read. I loved Distance Between Us, and On The Fence! I am definitely looking forward to her new book coming out in a couple months, P.S. I Like You.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters, the plot, and the cute relationships between the characters is just mind blowing and amazing. The book was very light hearted and refreshing. It feels like it's been a while since I have read a book like this and I enjoyed every minute of it. Absolutely love Hayden and Bec. I feel like I can relate a lot to Bec in some ways and she is just hilarious. I love the relationship that Bec and Gia create. Also did I mention that I love Hayden!

The story is about a Senior in high school, Gia, who was going to use prom was her chance to prove to friends that she hasn't been lying about her relationship with her college boyfriend. Her plan horribly fails when her boyfriend decides to dump her in the school parking lot... a couple hours before Prom (which she kind of had coming to her). She decides she has two options: either go in alone, or find an replacement and say he is her boyfriend. She goes with the not the best idea ever option. She finds Hayden, a guy who he was just dropping off his sister for prom, and proposes a deal that if he pretends to be her ex, she will owe him. Throughout the story you will see their relationship grow, some hilarious moments, most extremely cute moments that makes you want to hide your face into a pillow and squeal, see Gia go through some tough obstacles, see her grow into a better person, and so much more.

There were some characters however that I didn't like one bit. I did not really like her family.  Bradely, her ex, sucked. What type of person freaking dumps a girl before prom? SMH. The one  I liked the least was Jules. She was a total you know what. She wasn't just that she was also a HUGE bully. She was out to get rid of Gia and end the relationship between Gia and her other two friends. There were just many instances that she was just a terrible person.

But overall this was a good book! If your looking for a nice and refreshing read you should definitely check this one out!

RATING: 4 STARS
