Bookish Craft of the Month {HARRY POTTER 9 3/4 HOGWARTS EXPRESS SIGN}

Bookish Craft of the Month {HARRY POTTER 9 3/4 HOGWARTS EXPRESS SIGN}

Hello, everybody!!! There has been a little change on Bookish Crafts. I had originally planned to do this every Friday (Bookish Crafts Fridays). But, it was getting to difficult to put a new craft up every week especially since I had school and other things to do. So I decided to switch it to a monthly thing I do! Hope you enjoy!

I decided for the month of April to do the Harry Potter 9 3/4 Hogwarts Express Sign. Around a month ago, I finally finished the last couple books in the series and I freaking loved it! I already want to reread the series and dive back into the wizarding world.
Here are the Materials that I used:
~ Gold Glitter
~ 1 White Canvas
~Paint Brushes
~Pencil
~Bowl
~Black, White, and Yellow Paint

STEP 1: Take out your canvas and your bowl. Place the bowl in the middle of your canvas to make a perfect circle!

STEP 2: There is multiple ways you can do this but I decided to just draw them myself on the canvas. You can use stencils, etc. I drew the outline of the 9 3/4's part.

STEP 3: Next, I went ahead and painted the insides of the 9 3/4 with black paint.
STEP 4: Totally optional. I'm not the best painter and I went over the lines a bit so, I cleaned up the edges with white paint.

STEP 5: This can also be optional. I then wrote out the letters, "Hogwarts Express" near the bottom. You can use stencils.

STEP 6: When I was sending these photos to my laptop, I somehow managed to not send all of them. By the time I figured out that I didn't have all of them, I had already deleted them from my phone. *face palm* But this is when I painted in the letters with yellow paint.

STEP 7: I didn't have red paint, so I used black instead. Paint the what is left of the background.
STEP 8: Totally optional also! I wanted to make it seem more magical so I put gold glitter all over it.  The pictures I took don't show it well, but in person it's pretty freaking awesome... just saying. ;D

DONE!!!
Here are the final results!

Bookish Crafts Fridays! {The Hobbit Door Rune Decor}

Bookish Crafts Fridays! {The Hobbit Door Rune Decor}

Hello, everyone!!! It's Friday therefore, that means its time for another Bookish Craft Friday. Last week I finally read The Hobbit By J.R.R. Tolkien! I absolutely have fallen in love with the whole middle earth world! CLICK HERE TO SEE MY REVIEW! So, obviously this week should be dedicated to The Hobbit! I got to thinking and was like wonder if I made the Rune that Gandalf puts onto Bilbo's door to call for all the dwarfs. Here is what is what I am talking about!
Here is the final product!

Now let's get into the details on how I made it!

MATERIALS
~Foam Board that is sticky on the opposite side(you don't have to use this, use what you desire)
~Black Paint
~ Scissors
~Computer
~White paper
~ Writing Utensil

STEP 1 and 2

STEP 1: First I needed a stencil to use so, I looked up a picture of the rune. I searched this, "The rune on the door in the hobbit."
STEP 2: Next, I took out my piece of my paper and traced it out with my writing utensil!

STEP 3
STEP 3: This is what it looked like after I traced it. Then I proceed to take out my scissors and cut it out!

STEP 4 & 5

STEP 4: I then proceeded to tape on the stencil I just cut out onto my foam board (if you do this you can use any material that you wish to use).
STEP 5: I then traced it out and removed the stencil.

STEPS 6 & 7

STEP 6: Since the only foam board color I had was brown, I decided to paint it black.
STEP 7: Once it dried, I then cut it out!

STEP 8

STEP 8: Put it on the door!
DONE!

Bookish Crafts Fridays! {Tassel Bookmarks}

Bookish Crafts Fridays {Tassel Bookmarks}

Hello, everybody! Welcome to Bookish Crafts Fridays! This is a weekly post that I created! Every Friday I will post a step by step tutorial on some kind of  easy craft that is book related! This week I decided to show you all how to make a Tassel Bookmark. I LOVE books marks that have a little bit extra flair to them! I like it when books marks have the ribbon or tassel tied to the end of them. Let's jump right in!

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:
~Scissors
~Cardboard Burlap (or any type of Burlap)
~String
~Hot Glue Gun (optional)
~ A piece of decorative paper (optional)

STEPS 1 and 2

STEP 1: First pick out the color string you will be using. I recommend that you get some string that looks similar to this, that have the paper cuffs around them. You don't necessarily have to but, it will definitely be much easier!!
STEP 2: Take off the paper cuffs and separate it like it looks like in the picture. Pull the strings from the middle.

Steps 3 and 4

 Step 3: Get out your scissors! Take the string and cut only 1 side!!
Step 4: Your string should now look like this. Take a string out of your pile of strings.

STEPS 5 and 6
Step 5: Take the string that you just took out and place it under your pile of the string. It should be in a "t" shape and try to get it closest to the middle of the pile of string as you can.
Step 6: Now tie that string around the middle!

Step 7 and 8
Step 7: Make sure the string you tied around the pile of string does not get put in or lost in the pile of string! Combine the piles of string together (not the two separate). Fix all the strings to were there is no tangles. It should look similar to the first picture.
Step 8: Now take a string from the pile. You are going to use this string to hold everything together.
Step 9 and 10

Step 9: Take that string and wrap it around the pile of string. When you get close to the end of your string, on the last wrap around, wrap it loosely so you can tie the end of the string on it. It will look like the second picture.
Step 10: Take out your scissors out again! Cut the excess string off. Cut it any length you desire. You can even leave it like it is if you wish.
Step 11 and 12

Step 11: It should now look similar to this. You can stop here and tie it around a burlap or you can decorate your burlap!
Step 12: Like I said, totally optional! Take out your glue gun and the piece of paper that you wish to glue onto your burlap. Cut the piece of paper so it fits onto your burlap. Once you have the piece of paper, place glue onto the paper (I put dots of glue on each corner, but you can do all around).

Step 13

Step 13: Place the paper on the burlap! It should now look like this.

Step 14

Step 14: Tie the tassel you just made onto the burlap and your done! Great job!!!

I also did different sizes of tassel. You can add more string if you would like it bigger or you can to take away string to make it smaller.
