Weekly Recap #2

Weekly Recap #2

Hello, everyone! This is Weekly Recap, where I go over all the things that have happened this week, posts I have posted, etc.
This week I finally watched the Shadowhunters TV show.  The first episode was good. I like the girl who plays Clary, and the guy who plays Alec. I don't know how I feel about the guy who plays Magnus Bane. I feel like he lacks the fabulousness that I imagined Magnus would have. I don't know, it's probably too soon to judge though. Although, after watching the second episode, I'm not even sure I want to continue the show. It's been a while since I have read the books but, I am pretty sure some of the stuff isn't in the book. I heard that a rumor that they were using the movie as the source..... which is a big NOOOO. Anyways, I might or might not continue to watch it. If my sister decides to watch more of it, I might. XP
This week I heard that the next season of Doctor Who will come out around Fall 2017. What? Are my eyes deceiving me?!?! That's when I will of just started college! What am I going to do for a year and a half?!?! I guess that leaves more time for reading but, still. *cries until Fall 2017*

Review: Ice Like Fire By Sara Raasch

Review: Ice Like Fire By Sara Raasch

Series: Snow Like Ashes
Published By: Balzer + Bray
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, and Fantasy
Format: Hardback
Pages: 479 pages
Synopsis (from Goodreads)
It’s been three months since the Winterians were freed and Spring’s king, Angra, disappeared—thanks largely to the help of Cordell.

Meira just wants her people to be safe. When Cordellan debt forces the Winterians to dig their mines for payment, they unearth something powerful and possibly dangerous: Primoria’s lost chasm of magic. Theron sees this find as an opportunity—with this much magic, the world can finally stand against threats like Angra. But Meira fears the danger the chasm poses—the last time the world had access to so much magic, it spawned the Decay. So when the king of Cordell orders the two on a mission across the kingdoms of Primoria to discover the chasm’s secrets, Meira plans to use the trip to garner support to keep the chasm shut and Winter safe—even if it means clashing with Theron. But can she do so without endangering the people she loves?

Mather just wants to be free. The horrors inflicted on the Winterians hang fresh and raw in Januari—leaving Winter vulnerable to Cordell’s growing oppression. When Meira leaves to search for allies, he decides to take Winter’s security into his own hands. Can he rebuild his broken kingdom and protect them from new threats?

As the web of power and deception weaves tighter, Theron fights for magic, Mather fights for freedom—and Meira starts to wonder if she should be fighting not just for Winter, but for the world.

This book is the second installment of the Snow Like Ashes Series. If you haven't read the first book then I strongly recommend that you don't read this review. For it will have spoilers from the first book.

This book takes place 3 months after where Snow Like Ashes finishes. Due to Winter's growing debt to the Cordellans, the Winterians pretty much have no choice but to reopen their mines. With the Cordellans breathing down their necks, they are pushed to find the Chasm of Magic as soon as possible. One day, they finally find it behind a layer of rock and the only way to open it is to find the keys that are hidden and dispersed throughout the kingdoms. Noam demands Meira to find the keys or face pretty much utter destruction. So, Meira and Theron set off onto a journey to find the keys, make more allies, and dig up the mysterious secrets about the Chasm. The last time it was open, evil plagued the kingdoms and the power was abused. Will Meira be able to find allies to help aid her against Noam? If they manage to open it, what will become of the kingdoms? Will history repeat it's self?

In the first book I was 100% sure that I was on Team Theron. Without even getting that far into this book, that ship sank and fast. With these words, I totally forgot about my love for Theron,

"When Meira had appeared next to the dais, cheeks tinged the most enticing shade of pink, the fabric of her gown pulling against her legs- Mather understood more violently than he ever had the meaning of the word perfection."

That was the moment I realized that I was officially now officially Team Mather. Also, Theron in this book, in my opinion, was kind of annoying and that only helped the ship sink faster.

This book ripped out my heart, stomped on it, threw it in a blender, and then proceeded to stomp on it some more for the heck of it. The ending of this book killed me. This entire book killed me. There was WAY more stuff happening in this book and it made me not want put it down. In my opinion, I think this was 10 times better than the other book. I love the first book but, this was much better. If you loved the first book, you'll love this one even more. If you hated the first book, trust me this one is better. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book! I need to know what happens!

What team are you on? Have you read this book? Your thoughts?

Top Ten Tuesday #2

This weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

It's once again Tuesday, and that means it's time for Top Ten Tuesday! This week is Freebie Week, and that means I can pick whatever topic my heart desires. I love collecting books, so I decided that this week will be my Top Ten Books/ Series I wish I had on my bookshelf. After reading an amazing book, sometimes I wish that I could have it displayed on my bookshelf.
So here is the list of my TOP 10 BOOKS/ SERIES I WISH WERE ON MY BOOKSHELF!

This book is pure genius! I love it! I love any thing that has to do with history(this book setting is on the Titanic). Totally recommend that you check it out!

7. The Hollow Series By Jessica Verday

Even though I haven't read this one, I already know that I'm going to love it!

Lately, I have been obsessing over how awesome this book is! It's mind blowing!

Huge fan of Jenny Han and this series!

Believe it or not, the first book was my first YA book (I was like 12 or 13 when I read it). I hold the series in a special place in my heart. My mom had bought the first one, and thought I would of liked it. I freaking loved it. I loved it so much that I wanted to read more! I thank Fallen for my love of reading. =D Can't wait for the movie!!!

These two books are part of the Angel series. They are the second and third book. I had discovered the first one, Angel Burn, at Garden Ridge when I was searching through their gigantic pile of books. I found it on a whim and ended up purchasing it. It has became one of my top favorite series.

The Die For Me Series is my favorite series of ALL time! I LOVE it! Amy Plum is one of my favorite authors, and hope to one day add this to the collection. :)

REVIEW: Everything Leads to You By Nina LaCour

REVIEW: Everything Leads to You By Nina LaCour

Series: (Stand Alone)
Published By: Dutton Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Mystery, and LGBT
Format: E-book
Pages: 272 pages
SYNOPSIS (from Goodreads)
A love letter to the craft and romance of film and fate in front of—and behind—the camera from the award-winning author of Hold Still.

A wunderkind young set designer, Emi has already started to find her way in the competitive Hollywood film world.

Emi is a film buff and a true romantic, but her real-life relationships are a mess. She has desperately gone back to the same girl too many times to mention. But then a mysterious letter from a silver screen legend leads Emi to Ava. Ava is unlike anyone Emi has ever met. She has a tumultuous, not-so-glamorous past, and lives an unconventional life. She’s enigmatic…. She’s beautiful. And she is about to expand Emi’s understanding of family, acceptance, and true romance.

This review is going to be pretty short, so sorry in advance!!!
This was a really nice read! I LOVE contemporary! After finishing a contemporary, I always feel happy. They are always so refreshing!

This book was pretty short, and it kind of left me wanting more. I wanted more of just pretty much everything. I wanted more of what happened after, more Ava and Emi, possibly more Charlotte and Toby, more of the background setting up stuff, more Tamal, etc. In the beginning I was a little bored of all the movie set up talk but, soon it grew on me. I was really intrigued by it, and now I want to know a little more about it. ;) The next time I watch a TV Show or movie, I will probably find myself paying more attention to the background, setting, and how things are arranged.

The book was, however,  kind of predictable. Which I, honestly, in most cases I hate. In this book, I didn't really mind. As I said it was a nice, short read and overall I'm really happy about this book. ;)

What are your thoughts on this book? What were your feelings toward all of the movie background talk? Do you also wish that there was a little bit more about what happened?

RATING: 3 STARS

REVIEW: Snow Like Ashes By Sara Raasch

REVIEW: Snow Like Ashes By Sara Raasch

17399160

Series: Snow Like Ashes
Published By: Balzer +Bray
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, and Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 416 pages

                                Synopsis (from Goodreads)

A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.

Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

That ending was everything!! I couldn't help but smile when I read the last chapter. I'm so happy about this book! It was great. I was a little worried while reading the first 50% of the book. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, but it was just not what I imagined and hoped that it would be. The last 50%, however, blew my mind! It was phenomenal! I cried, smiled, and cried a little more. I cried so hard for the Winterians. While Meria was reading the Wnterians text in the tunnels, I bawled. I don't know why. I just did. I even cried when something good happened. I'm just an emotional mess right now. I think Sara Raasch does an amazing job at portraying the emotion the main character is feeling. Which makes me want to go check out more of her books. Definitely a new fan! ;D

Oh my gosh, totally Team Theron. I was thrown off by the unsuspected love triangle, but love him! I feel like he is a better match for Meira. Don't get me wrong Mather is definitely cute but, Theron though!

I feel like Meria is going to try to go for Mather for most of the series, until the end she finally realizes that Theron is the one. Which honestly sucks if it plays out like that. I really hope that this series doesn't do that cliché love triangle romance. This series has so much promise and I hate to see that happen. I have a feeling though that she is going to go for him. No worries, right?

This is genially a good quality book. Which lately, seems like is hard to find. I can't wait to start the next book, Ice Like Fire!!!! Have you read this book? What were your thoughts? Are you shipping Meira with Theron or Mather. Show me your thoughts down in the comment section!

RATING: 5 STARS
Thanks for reading!
